What is TENCEL™ Modal?

TENCEL™ is a fibre brand from Lenzing, an Austrian company that has made wood-based fibres for decades. TENCEL™ Modal fibres come from wood pulp sourced from certified or controlled forests. The pulp is turned into a fine, smooth fibre known for its softness.

Why we chose it

We wanted pyjamas that feel as good on the hundredth wear as on the first. After testing fabric after fabric, we chose TENCEL™ Modal. It's silky-soft against the skin, gentle enough for your most restful nights, and made to last.

Why it matters

Luna Faye® is about slow living in a fast world: taking the evening back for yourself and choosing things that are made with care. TENCEL™ Modal fits that. It's a fibre made thoughtfully, from responsibly sourced wood, with its impact measured and its journey traceable. That's the same considered approach we want behind every piece we make.

We also believe you don't have to choose between ambitious and soft. You can take on the day and still come home to something gentle, made for you and the quiet moments that are yours.

Caring for your set

A little care keeps your Luna Faye® pieces soft and beautiful for years:

  • Machine wash cold (30°C max) on a gentle cycle, inside out
  • Wash with similar colours using a mild liquid detergent
  • Line dry in the shade, and skip the tumble dryer to protect the fabric and prints
  • Cool iron on the reverse if needed
  • Do not bleach or dry clean

FAQ

Will it pill?

Any soft fabric can pill when it rubs against rough surfaces. Washing inside out, using a laundry bag and avoiding the dryer helps keep your set smooth.

Will it shrink?

Our fabric is tested to stay within a ±5% shrinkage rate. In our own testing, through more than 50 washes, our sets kept their shape and colour. Following the care guide above keeps yours looking its best.

Is it good for hot sleepers?

Yes. TENCEL™ Modal feels cool to the touch, and our fabric is thin and breathable, so it stays comfortable all night. Customers who sleep hot often tell us it's their favourite thing to sleep in.

Is it sustainable?

Here's what Lenzing, the maker of TENCEL™ Modal, shares about the fibre:

  • Responsibly sourced wood. The wood comes from certified or controlled sources, under FSC® or PEFC certification.
  • Lower impact production. Producing TENCEL™ Modal fibres generates at least 50% lower carbon emissions and uses at least 50% less water than generic modal fibres.
  • EU Ecolabel. The fibre holds the EU Ecolabel for textile products, which recognises reduced environmental impact across its life cycle.
  • Traceable. Lenzing's fibre identification technology means TENCEL™ fibres can be verified and traced from fibre to finished garment.
